Sweepstakes in affiliate marketing

  • How to choose the right sweepstakes offers

Sweepstakes offers are great for affiliate marketing beginners. They can be set up quickly and easily and can bring in good results. But how do you know which sweepstake offers to run for which traffic sources? In this article, we’ll give you some of our top tips for running sweepstakes across multiple traffic sources.

    SOI/DOI Email Submit vs CC-Submit

As a general rule in affiliate marketing, offer payouts based on the number of information visitors have to provide for the conversion to be triggered. The more information that your visitors have to give, the higher the payout. Therefore, if you’re just starting and don’t have a huge budget, then choose SOI/DOI Email Submits rather than CC Submits as they should have a lower cost per action (CPA).

If you’re not new to affiliate marketing and have a decent budget, then go for CC Submits with higher payouts.

Top Traffic Sources for Sweepstakes Offers

For many verticals, when it comes to choosing the right traffic source, it’s often best to go with the one you already know. For most people, this is usually social media. However, when it comes to running sweepstakes offers, platforms like Facebook are very risky as they don’t like anything aggressive. Therefore, if you’re just starting and don’t want to have to deal with account bans, it’s best to opt for traffic sources that are more welcoming for affiliates.

The most popular traffic source for sweepstakes is pop traffic, specifically popunder. Here are some of the top pop traffic sources:

Which sweepstakes offers should you use for your traffic source?

There are a lot of things to look out for when choosing the right affiliate offers. However, some elements will have more of an impact on your campaigns than others.

                        Optimize for Mobile

One of the first things to look out for is whether or not offers are optimized for mobile. Sweepstakes offers generally work much better on mobile than they do on other devices. If you use a tracking platform like Voluum then you can test and run different offers on different carriers. This is important, as some advertisers will only accept traffic from specific carriers such as Vodafone, T-Mobile, O2, etc.

                        Target the right GEOs

You won’t be able to target every GEO with every sweepstake offer and the GEOs you choose can have a big effect on performance and payout. Generally speaking, in Tier 1 GEOs you will have a wider range of available offers including both Email Submits and CC-Submits. However, in Tier 3 GEOs, the majority will be CC-Submits. The reason for this is that the leads are generally much lower quality in tier 3, so the only way to make a profit is to ensure a subscription or payment.

For both beginners and veteran affiliate marketers, it’s usually best to work in Tier 1 or even Tier 2 GEOs when running sweepstakes, as there are better payouts and higher-quality traffic for both Email Submits and CC-Submits.

Check the Legitimacy of the Offer and Network First!

If you are new to affiliate marketing, the last thing you want is to be sending fake offers with false promises. There are a lot of sweepstakes offers out there, but not all of them are legitimate. However, if you are running offers through a network, then they should be ensuring that all of their advertisers are compliant with their terms and conditions.

Affiliates and networks have got in trouble in the past for running sweepstake offers that didn’t fulfill their promises, so be sure to check with your network that the offers are legitimate. With so many real offers, there’s really no need to promote fake ones.

                        Test, Test, and Test Again

The only real way to know which offer works best for your traffic source is to test it. If you are using a good tracking tool and you really should be, then you can check which parts of your funnels are performing well and which aren’t. It’s not always the offer that is the issue, and if you are using ad copy or prelanders that aren’t working, then even the best offer in the world will underperform.
